Our newest family member

I didn't think we'd ever own one but I guess I was wrong. We got a DOG!! I know it's pretty shocking. I'm still getting over the shock myself. That's the only thing that Afton wanted for Christmas. We ended up getting it the day after Christmas. Jason home teaches a family that live out in the country and they have like 6 or 7 dogs. People just take their dogs out that way and drop them off because they don't want them anymore and this family takes them in and cares for them. Well, they had been trying to get us to take this dog they had for a few months. It was super sweet and good with the kids, but I just wasn't feeling it. And then the day after Christmas I succumbed to peer pressure. They said we could try him out for a few days or however long we want and if it doesn't work out we can return him. Now if that isn't an awesome return policy I don't know what is. So I guess we're trying him out. His name is Scooter and he's a mutt....a mix a dachshund and we think border collie. He's pretty much house trained, doesn't bark and is really good with the kids. The only bad things...I'm the one who wanted him the least and he loves me the most (why does it always work out that way), he's scared of Jason and pees if Jason tries to pick him up or touch him (we think he may been abused by a previous owner), he's not neutered and I think he has fleas. Yay! Now why did we get a dog?!

Afton with her surprise. When we got the dog she wasn't with us so we surprised her when she got home. I think she thought it was a joke at first but was so excited when she knew it was real. Sorry about the scary dog eyes. I don't know how to get rid of those.
