Before we left for Utah, we did our own little Christmas in California. We wanted to do something in our own home with the kids plus, it lessoned the amount of presents we had to take to Utah. We did this last year and it worked out great so we did it again this year. Santa stopped by early at our home in California and then made another stop in Utah or so that's what we told the kids. They had a great time opening their presents, although they couldn't open any of the packages because we were leaving that day to go to Utah. They were pretty bummed about the presents but it didn't last long because they were really excited to go to Utah. We left on the 19th of December around 3 in the afternoon, so that put us at the in-laws around 5:30 a.m.! Yes, we were very exhausted! But really happy to be with our families. And we were really lucky and didn't hit any bad weather, just bad traffic over Donner's due to a car accident.
