Ward Temple Day and Special Sacrament Meeting

Every year, our ward has a Ward Temple day for the whole family. Well we've only had it the last five years because that's when they started doing it, but it's been one of my favorite ward activities. And it was really good this year because I wasn't in charge. I wasn't in charge last year, but the two years before that I was and it was very, very stressful. Yesterday, we left at 6:30 a.m. to get to the Temple by 8 a.m. We dropped the kids off in the daycare and headed over to the Temple. This year I actually got to go into the temple. Jason was over youth baptisms again so I decided to help in the baptistry. It was really great! There were a lot of young women doing baptisms and I got to be one of their helpers so it was lots of fun. It made me miss Young Women's though. I love being in the temple and I'm so glad that I actually got to go in this year. It's such a wonderful, spiritual place and I'm glad that my family and I were able to be there together. Afton and Dax were really excited to go too. The primary always has fun stuff planned for the kids. And my friend Amber came to my rescue. I forgot to put my camera battery back into my camera, so she snapped a few pictures for us. All of the pictures turned out really great. Thanks Amber!

In keeping with the spirit of Ward Temple Day, we always have a special musical sacrament meeting. Anyone who wants to is invited to share their favorite hymn and why. Afton wanted to share hers, so we went up to the pulpit and as soon as we got up their she went shy on me. Which was really weird because she's never like that. So I spoke on her behalf. I just told everyone that her favorite hymn is "Called to Serve" and why. When I asked her why she said, "Because it's loud!" and then she added, "because I love missionaries." And I added that it's actually one of my favorites too because I love to hear all of the primary kids sing it. And they do sing it very loudly! Afton and Dax love to hear it at home. We have it on CD and I play it and they sing it very loudly while running around the living room. I think I have to play it like 10 times because they love it so much.
